Provincial Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, while addressing the ceremony, stated that the Punjab government is taking steps to establish a network of EV charging stations across the province to support the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). Emphasizing the need for a robust EV policy, he said the policy is being designed with public interest as a priority, aiming to encourage people to shift from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric ones. Large-scale adoption of EVs will not only save fuel but also play a key role in combating smog and reducing air pollution in the province.

Yutong Middle East CEO Robin Shen reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Pakistan, stating that Yutong is dedicated to promoting sustainable and clean energy-based transportation in the country. He highlighted that Yutong already holds a 70% share in Pakistan’s premium intercity bus market and is now expanding its role in environmental improvement through EV and hybrid buses.

Yutong Pakistan Managing Director Paul Zhang elaborated on the DMT and YEA technologies, emphasizing that these innovations enhance energy efficiency and significantly reduce carbon emissions. He noted that these advanced buses represent a solid step towards addressing critical challenges such as smog and air pollution while supporting sustainable urban mobility in Pakistan.

During the event, a landmark agreement was signed between Yutong and Wah Industry for the supply of 400 state-of-the-art electric buses, laying the foundation for a transformative shift in Pakistan’s public transportation landscape.

Adding a symbolic touch, Yutong introduced the “Green Commitment Tree” installation, where attendees signed symbolic leaves to pledge their dedication to environmental sustainability. This initiative reflects Yutong’s vision of contributing to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Pakistan.
