Microsoft has begun rolling out several new AI features for Windows 11, including an expansion of its Copilot Vision tool, which allows users to interact with content displayed across their screens. The update, which will be distributed over the next month, introduces capabilities that were previously in limited testing and adds new tools for Copilot Plus PCs.
All Windows 11 users can now access Copilot Vision through the Copilot app. The tool enables users to ask natural-language questions about content shown across open apps and websites. It can also provide assistance with tasks such as editing photos or performing computer functions, using AI to interpret on-screen data.
For users with Snapdragon-powered Copilot Plus PCs, Microsoft has introduced a Settings app “agent” that responds to natural-language queries. Users can request changes to system settings, such as turning on quiet hours or connecting to Bluetooth, and the AI will attempt to execute the request directly.
Microsoft is also enhancing the “Click to Do” preview on Copilot Plus PCs. Users can trigger the feature by holding the Windows key and left-clicking on content such as text or apps. The AI can then summarize content, generate Word documents, schedule Microsoft Teams meetings, or activate Reading Coach to help with pronunciation and fluency.
Several new AI-powered tools are exclusive to Copilot Plus PCs. These include:
Alongside the AI updates, Microsoft is introducing other features for all Windows 11 systems. These include a new color picker in the Snipping Tool and a mechanism to automatically resolve issues that cause unexpected system restarts.
Microsoft said the features will become available gradually through Windows’ non-security preview updates and app updates via the Microsoft Store. While some tools are already accessible, others will reach users over the coming weeks.
