Clean Drinking Water Projects Approved Across Punjab

The Punjab government has decided to launch a large-scale program to provide clean drinking water across the province.

As part of the plan, 963 new water filtration plants will be installed in various districts. In the Pothohar region, additional clean water projects will be developed using small dams as water sources.

A high-level meeting, chaired by Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, reviewed ongoing and upcoming projects. During the session, the CEO of the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority, Naveed Ahmed, briefed officials on the status of the initiatives.

The new program includes two surface water treatment plants. Work on clean water supply schemes in districts like Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan is expected to begin soon.

According to the housing department, work on several new water supply projects will continue on an annual basis. The CEO of the authority emphasized that all projects will be carried out with transparency and merit.

To reduce operational costs, many of the planned projects will be shifted to solar energy. The meeting was also attended by DG O&M Zohaib Butt and DG Projects Amir Khaleeq.
