After Islamabad, Donkey Meat Seized in Another City

A slaughtered donkey was seized and two suspects were taken into custody during a raid in the Kuzabanda area of Battagram district on Tuesday.

In a report, Dawn.com said that District Food Controller (DFC) Shad Muhammad reported that the operation was carried out by the Additional Assistant Commissioner and a Food Inspector, acting on a tip-off.

The raid led to the recovery of the donkey carcass and the arrest of two men from Hunza and Mansehra.

The food controller stressed that a thorough investigation is required to verify the actual intent behind the meat’s use. He also noted that the individuals are neither professional butchers nor owners of any meat shops.

According to the first information report (FIR), the two individuals have been charged under Sections 272 (adulteration of food or drink intended for sale) and 273 (sale of harmful food or drink) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
