Sindh to Build Vehicle Fitness Centers in Five Big Cities

The Sindh cabinet has given in-principle approval to authorize Wah Industries for vehicle fitness certification, following a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Thursday.

The Chief Minister directed the provincial transport department to consult with Wah Industries and submit a revised proposal to the cabinet for final approval.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon briefed the cabinet on the establishment of vehicle fitness inspection centers. He said that five centers are currently being set up in Karachi.

Additional facilities will also be established in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, and Shaheed Benazirabad. These centers will issue fitness certificates to commercial and heavy vehicles, he added.

The minister further noted that an online system for vehicle registration and challan issuance is now operational. “So far, fitness certificates have been issued to over 33,000 vehicles,” he said.

According to Memon, approximately 9.2 million vehicles are currently registered in Sindh.
