LHC Bins Petition Against Increase in Private School Fee

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging the hike in private school fees, directing the District Registration Authority to decide on the matter within 21 days, according to 24NewsHD TV.

Justice Khalid Ishaq heard the case filed by Muhammad Ayub and others, who argued through their counsel that private schools arbitrarily raise tuition fees every year.

The petitioners’ lawyer contended that, under the law, schools are permitted to increase fees by no more than five percent annually. However, he claimed that in the latest instance, fees had been raised by as much as 42 percent.

During the proceedings, the judge inquired which body was responsible for regulating school fees. The counsel responded that the District Registration Authority handled such complaints, with the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore serving as its head.

  • Government should take a strict action against high fee of private schools. A common person cannot pay and cannot fulfill the proper and basic needs of their children.

  • I am amazed on private schools strategy of increasing school fees but they don’t even bother to look at their teachers’ salary ….. pathetic annual increments are given …..this is so heartbreaking.
