The Ministry of Railways has released detailed income and expenditure figures for Pakistan Railways covering the period from fiscal year 2022–23 to the current financial year 2024–25.
According to the ministry, Pakistan Railways faced a cumulative loss of Rs. 6 billion over the three years. In 2022–23, the railways earned Rs. 63.718 billion in revenue, while expenses stood at Rs 72.178 billion, resulting in a loss of Rs 8.460 billion.
In 2023–24, income rose to Rs. 88.792 billion, with expenses at Rs 88.380 billion, producing a small surplus of more than Rs. 410 million.
In the ongoing fiscal year 2024–25, revenue has so far reached Rs. 93.382 billion, against expenditures of Rs. 91.120 billion, leading to a profit of Rs. 2.262 billion.
The report also revealed that Pakistan Railways spent Rs. 1.157 billion on subsidized tickets for journalists, students, senior citizens, employees, and other eligible groups.

Yes they’re showings profit but at what cost ?? The quality of trains is getting worsen with each passing day … I recently went on a Pakistan tour via Business class ticket of train and the condition of their compartments and washrooms was really really bad … Like I was travelling in Economy class … Plus the tracks were damaged in Sindh due to which Green Train (which has maximum stops of 5-6) was stopping after every half an hour. The whole journey was a nightmare. So if you’re giving this type of service and showing profit then it’s not worth it !!!

If these figures correct congratulation to administration of railway irrespective of party affiliation. Privatize sale of tickets of train.
The most important thing is to improve track. For that railway don’t need all the money in lum sum. Invite public subscription of shares. Perform it and make attraction for general public.
Banks are also converting Islamic mode of financing. Do it. Don’t borrow from abroad. Build motor ways with public private partnership.

Sir, thanks God that we have entered in a era profit. I suggest that by utilizing this amount and take loan from provincial governments to improve your track immediately, lot of incidents of derailed trains are increasing day by day .so please take this job on priority to save the rail . regards
Safety is the paramount concern particularly providing train service to commute passenger. Derailing of wagons and frequent incidents/accidents are high risk and needs immediate attention at all level to regain passenger/user confidence. Next comes passenger comfort and convenience that should be ensured with state regulatory oversight to the job honestly and effectively to ensure the safety, comfort and convenience. Parasites that have eaten away the assets and operational viability are known and identified time and again be eliminated or may be reduced with sincere efforts and commercial acumen.
This is a very positive sign. If the intention is right, all kinds of corruption and evil can be eradicated with competent and honest leadership, while staying away from political appointments in all government institutions and departments.
They need to focus on fright trains more, to make money. Their roads r good people can travel by bus.
Soon they will start suffering losses if they continue with poor standard of in-train services
