In response to multiple train accidents reported in recent months, Pakistan Railways has directed all passenger and freight services to strictly comply with the “Railway Work to Rules – Brake Powers.”
An official circular issued by Chief Operating Superintendent Syeda Maryam Gilani has been dispatched to all divisional superintendents and the technical branch. The document sets out four key safety measures, placing particular emphasis on the inspection of braking systems.
According to the new instructions, no train will be issued a fitness certificate unless the braking material of every coach, wagon, and engine is fully updated. Engineering and technical teams have been told to formally verify that brake power is operating at 100 percent. Any vehicle that fails to meet this requirement must be detached immediately.
The circular further highlighted that the decision is aimed at protecting passengers’ lives, improving travel safety, ensuring punctuality, and maintaining operational standards. Gilani stressed that strict compliance with these rules will play a critical role in reducing the risk of future accidents.
Pakistan Railways has ordered the immediate enforcement of the new safety guidelines across all divisions.

Most important of all is maintenance of the railway track and bridges from Peshawar to Karachi, Attock to Multan and fro Quetta to Karachi. Even ever branch lines must be properly maintained. Beautification of railway stations is the second priority. Safety of passengers while traveling should be the foremost priority of the railway high ups. This will raise the revenue of railway. Reliable and safe track means more and more passengers and higher revenue.
Pakistan Railway tracks are old and wornout. New tracks are needed.
All trains should run slow speed not more than 60 miles per hour.
Day n night security be made on full length of tracks to catch the saboteurs. Armed security watch man to control safety of tracks with shoot at sight orders.

Very good step!! considering safety of passengers however weaker railway tracks are also area of concern.
Need to go further up in steps considering the internal physical situation of coaches.
Facilities should match with the ticket price.
Last please increase AC sleeper coaches in other trains particularly for elderly travellers who need attached bathroom. Fir decades on Karachi express and few others have these sleeper coaches. Add these at least in Pak Business.
Very last point considering the decrease in reservations please reduce number if non profitable trains.

Railway is most safest mode of journey in the world but unfortunately in pakistan it becomes very very unsafe and uncomfortable so for the God sake please ensure safety of every single passenger by replacing all tracks from peshawar to karachi as well as complete overhaul engines and bogies. Before departure from every halt and stations it must be checked and examined by TXR and through a poilet engine. Besides federal government should be immedilay start feasibility for laying of double tracks duly electrification along motorways by making borders throughout country that will help to improve whole Railway system.
