Internet services across Pakistan were restored after a fault in the PTCL network disrupted connectivity for nearly eight hours. The outage, which affected large parts of the country, caused significant inconvenience for users relying on PTCL and its subsidiary Ufone.
According to a PTCL spokesperson, the fault in the company’s network has been rectified and both PTCL and Ufone services have been fully restored. The spokesperson added that the company is grateful to the public for their patience during the disruption.
Sources revealed that the fault originated in PTCL’s distribution network in Karachi late Tuesday night, leading to interruptions in internet supply. Technical teams worked throughout the night to identify and resolve the issue, which was fixed around 5 a.m. on Wednesday. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) also extended support in restoring services.
PTA officials clarified that PTCL’s entire network was not completely down, but certain segments experienced service disruptions. They further stated that while Transworld and Multinet networks remained operational, streams dependent on PTCL’s backbone services were affected.
Global internet observatory NetBlocks also confirmed the large-scale outage in Pakistan. In a post on its X handle, NetBlocks reported that 20 percent of the country’s internet connectivity was down, with PTCL experiencing the highest impact.
