Balochistan Adds More Public Transport Buses in Two Cities

In a major step toward modernizing urban transport, the Balochistan government has introduced 21 state-of-the-art buses under its Green and Pink Bus Project, aimed at improving commuting facilities in Quetta and Turbat.

The initiative, launched on the directives of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, reflects the provincial government’s focus on public welfare and infrastructure development. Of the fleet, 17 buses will operate in Quetta, while 4 have been allocated to Turbat.

To ensure safe travel for women, five pink buses in Quetta have been designated exclusively for female passengers. The remaining 12 green buses will run on key urban routes, providing modern, efficient, and reliable transportation for the public.

Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar confirmed that the buses have been inspected, delivered, and are ready for service. “This project is expected to enhance the daily travel experience of thousands of people while also generating new job opportunities,” he stated.

Once operational, the service is projected to cater to 40,000–50,000 passengers per day, significantly easing mobility challenges and reducing dependence on outdated transport systems.

The provincial government emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to deliver sustainable, safe, and inclusive urban development solutions for Balochistan’s growing cities.
