The Sindh government has approved the recruitment of 2,000 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) for the police investigation wing in an effort to improve law enforcement and the justice system, ARY News reported on Friday.
The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, attended by IG Sindh, the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), the Secretary Services, and other senior officials.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Secretary Shah stressed that strengthening the investigative capacity of the police is essential for building public confidence. “This initiative will enhance the police’s ability to conduct thorough investigations, ensure quicker justice, and help curb crime,” he said. He also instructed officials to resolve any hurdles in the recruitment process without delay.
IG Sindh supported the decision, noting that the addition of new ASIs would raise the quality of investigations and ensure stricter action against criminal elements.
Meanwhile, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh has also released an updated edition of its “Grey Book,” which now includes profiles of 81 most-wanted suspects. The list features individuals involved in murder, attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom, armed robberies, and police encounters.
Authorities confirmed that the updated Grey Book will soon be shared with all law enforcement units to aid in the identification and arrest of high-profile criminals across the province.
