The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced that free Wi-Fi will be made available at 35 key locations across Islamabad, including major markets, Metro and Electric Feeder Bus stations, and public parks. The initiative aims to provide easy and free internet access to citizens in high-traffic areas of the capital.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, at CDA Headquarters.
Officials briefed the meeting that the CDA’s technical team will extend full support to NTC in the execution of this project. It was further informed that the system will be operated and maintained by NTC, with the objective of transforming Islamabad into a free Wi-Fi city in the near future.
The CDA Chairman directed that an operational and marketing model should be developed to make the service self-sustainable, with the revenue generated being utilized for the system’s upgradation and maintenance. He stressed that uninterrupted service and quality must be ensured for citizens.
Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa reiterated the government’s vision to digitize Islamabad and highlighted that all necessary resources will be mobilized to provide modern facilities to the people of the federal capital, making Islamabad the country’s first free Wi-Fi city.
The meeting was attended by National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) Managing Director Major General (R) Ali Farhan, CDA Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Planning Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Director IT, and other senior officials.

Very good
Will be able for appreciation on such work
More fake news .
How can peeps sit in a place and use it ? If you want to give people free wifi , just use cellphone network.
Putting a router at a place is only going to cause traffic issues
Oh right it’s naswar daughter
You would never feed the poor never educate at free of cost and never provide health care free of cost instead will open the bars clubs and internet freely cuz they fund you and provide funds for this to make your kids vulnerable
It is an opportunity for those poor, who can utilise free Internet for positive use and development activities
What is there plan, whether to hack mobiles or what? Because they don’t have ever realized that they are holding positions to serve public.
100% same question
This is a security measure rather than a convenience for the public. Pakistanis are getting too smart for this… Never connect to a public Wifi anywhere in the world.
If it’s true , so it’s great effort & steps, wish you good luck 👍
To me, it is just wastage of time. Our young generation is mobile cell addicts. Free WiFi will further aggrevate this menace. This is clear cut invasion on our social lives. Hacking and stealing of personal information is another fear.
Not at all suggested.
People are starving with inflation. And elites who can pay their Internet bills v. easily are getting free WiFi. What a shame
Hi I want to use high speed internet for Online work
Easier said than done. Maintenance if this service is more important than number of sites. Even if 1 site is given it should be up 24_7 rayher than 35 sites all down or no connwctivity messages.
