The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part-I annual examinations for 2024 on August 26.
The results reflect the performance of students across various academic groups, including Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Humanities, Commerce, and others.
A total of 92,400 students appeared in the HSSC Part-I examination.
Out of these, 54,316 students passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 58.75%.
The board reported that 857 results were withheld due to various discrepancies, while 9 cases of unfair means were registered and addressed accordingly.
Out of 26,345 students who appeared, 72.21% passed. Female students in this group outperformed their male counterparts, with a pass percentage of 75.19% compared to 64.76% among males.
The Pre-Engineering group recorded a total of 25,167 candidates, of which 16,583 passed, leading to a 65.89% pass rate.
The largest group in terms of enrollment, Humanities saw 14,282 students appear for the exams, with a pass percentage of 60.19%. Female students again showed stronger results at 66.16%, while males lagged behind with 44.65%.
Out of 3,527 candidates, 958 passed, reflecting a pass rate of 27.19%. The pass percentage for males stood at 22.80%, and for females at 20.90%.
A total of 543 candidates appeared in this group, with a modest 7.60% pass rate. Only 41 students managed to clear the exams.
Among compulsory subjects, Urdu had a high pass percentage of 99.36%, and English followed with 97.12%. Optional subjects such as Physics (79.94%), Chemistry (78.18%), and Biology (84.32%) showed healthy pass percentages.
Liberal arts subjects like Education (89.17%) and Islamic Studies (91.25%) also had strong performance trends.
Out of the total, 53,369 male and 37,458 female students appeared in the exam. While male students dominated numerically, female students consistently outperformed in all academic streams, particularly in Pre-Medical and Humanities.
