The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has passed the Government Servants Housing Foundation Bill, paving the way for the establishment of a housing foundation to provide residential plots to government employees.
According to the bill, the foundation will be set up to address the shortage of affordable housing, as many government employees are forced to live in rental homes at high costs.
The law states that plots will be allotted to employees on a no-profit, no-loss basis.
Funding for the Government Servants Housing Foundation will be provided through grants from the federal and provincial governments. In addition, a monthly deduction will be made from employees’ salaries to contribute to the fund.
The initiative is aimed at easing the housing burden on government workers by ensuring access to affordable residential plots.
