Punjab to Crackdown on Vehicles Without Green Stickers

The Punjab Environment Department has begun taking strict action against vehicles operating without green stickers, following the expiry of the August 31 deadline.

Department spokesperson Sajid Bashir said that in the initial phase, warning slips are being issued to owners of 2010–2015 model vehicles, along with e-challans sent by post. He added that repeated violations will lead to fines and legal proceedings.

According to the Punjab Environment Agency, emission checks of petrol and diesel vehicles are currently underway in urban areas. So far, around 350,000 vehicles have been issued green stickers. Only vehicles that successfully pass the emission test are eligible for the sticker.

He further noted that the fee for obtaining the green sticker will be announced soon.
