Dr. Sharmeen Fayyaz, a Research Officer at the National Institute of Virology, Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi, has received the Best Young Researcher Award at the Kazan Global Youth Summit 2025.
Dr. Fayyaz was presented the award by Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of the OIC-COMSTECH, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to scientific research. The award was part of a special ceremony held during the summit.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), congratulated Dr. Fayyaz on the achievement. He said the recognition was not only an honor for her and the Dr. Panjwani Center but also for Pakistan as a whole.
Dr. Shah added that the National Institute of Virology, operating under PCMD, is actively engaged in developing innovative diagnostics and research tools aimed at strengthening public health responses.
Held under the theme “Education of Personality in the Era of Global Changes: Values-based Career Development,” the Kazan Global Youth Summit 2025 brought together young leaders, researchers, and policymakers from around the world. The summit featured sessions on emerging global trends, challenges for youth, and the importance of value-driven career growth.
The Global Youth Leadership Awards, including the one received by Dr. Fayyaz, were presented in collaboration with international partners to highlight exemplary contributions by young professionals across disciplines.
