The Punjab government has enforced an immediate ban on deforestation and the auction of timber across the province.
According to an official notification, the sale and auction of all categories of forest wood, including fuel timber, will remain suspended until further orders. The move aims to curb illegal logging and protect forest resources.
Authorities have announced that new rules will soon be introduced, developed with the support of modern technology and mapping systems, to ensure greater transparency in timber management.
The provincial government has also instructed the Director General of Forests and Wildlife to strictly monitor and implement the ban.
