Four New Roads Worth Rs. 9 Billion Approved for Lahore

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced plans to construct four new structure plan roads at an estimated cost of nearly Rs. 9 billion, in a bid to ease congestion across major routes of the city.

The initiative, approved by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was described by LDA Director General Tahir Farooq as another “gift to citizens.” The largest of the projects is the 13.8 km Southern Corridor, officially named Neelum Road, which will link LDA City with Pine Avenue.

Divided into two phases, the road will run from Pine Avenue to the railway line in the first section, while the second will connect Haloki and Jinnah Sector to LDA City. An underpass will be built at Jaya Bagga Road to cross the railway line. Estimated at Rs. 6.93 billion, Neelum Road will feature dual carriageways with two lanes each.

The second project will build a 4.75 km, three-lane road from Expo Centre to Khayaban Jinnah. Costing Rs. 1.61 billion, the road will include solar-powered LED lights, pedestrian walkways, and a central drainage system.

The third road, a 1.5 km link from Shadiwal Chowk to Ghaffar Chowk, will also feature solar lighting, walkways, and proper drainage for Rs. 455 million.

The final 2.13 km road, from Shoq Chowk to Doctor Hospital, will be constructed for Rs. 653 million and will include sewerage, lighting, and footpaths. All projects are targeted for completion within six months.
