A major renovation and beautification project for Faisalabad’s historic Clock Tower and its adjoining eight bazaars is scheduled to begin by the end of September, officials confirmed.
The initiative is designed to preserve the city’s heritage while introducing modern facilities. Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar, who chaired a high-level meeting to finalize the plans, said the work will be carried out in phases.
Under the plan, electricity, gas, and water supply lines around the Clock Tower will be shifted underground. Officials said the renovation will also cover surrounding bazaars, parks, chowks, and green belts.
Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Nadeem Nasir said the Clock Tower and bazaars represent Faisalabad’s identity. He added that the project will restore the city’s historical character while encouraging tourism.
According to official figures, Rs. 380 million has been approved for the renovation of Ghanta Ghar, Ghumti, and Kutchery Bazaar. An additional Rs. 320 million has been allocated for the underground electricity scheme in the area.
