The Pakistan futsal team will have to wait a little longer to make history at the Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers. According to Pakistan’s leading sports journalist Faizan Lakhani, the Group D matches of the upcoming competition have been postponed, with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirming the delay.
Pakistan, set to make its debut in the tournament, was placed in Group D alongside hosts Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei, and Iraq. Originally scheduled to be played from September 20 to 24, the matches will now take place from October 18 to 22, 2025.
The tournament was set to take place in Saudi Arabia this month, but the Saudi Arabia Football Federation (SAFF) informed the AFC of logistical and unforeseen challenges that rendered the original schedule unfeasible. In response, the AFC has announced the revised dates and assured participating teams that updated fixtures and venues will be shared in due course.
The decision comes after Pakistan had already begun its final preparations for the event. The squad had been announced, and the team was gearing up for its debut campaign against some of Asia’s top sides. However, the additional time now offers Pakistan an opportunity to further settle and refine its strategy ahead of the qualifiers, which will determine their path to the Futsal Asian Cup 2026.
The rescheduling also enables organizers to ensure improved facilities, smoother travel arrangements, and enhanced competitive readiness for all participating squads.
With futsal steadily gaining popularity across South Asia, Pakistani fans will be eagerly awaiting the announcement of venues and fixtures, especially as the national team aims to make a strong impression on the continental stage.
