The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has generated record earnings from the auction of two major bus stands in the capital, with G-9 awarded for Rs. 81.6 million annually and I-11 for Rs. 38 million.
According to officials, this marks a sharp jump from previous auctions. The G-9 bus stand, earlier leased out for Rs. 37.9 million, recorded a 104% increase this year. Similarly, the I-11 terminal, which previously fetched Rs. 6.5 million, surged by over 400% in the latest bidding.
The DMA noted that both stands had been operating under self-collection since 2019, following repeated failures to attract bidders due to contractor monopolies. Under the supervision of Director DMA Dr. Anam Fatima, corrective reforms and tighter oversight improved revenue collection, restoring investor confidence.
At G-9, annual recoveries rose from Rs. 26 million to Rs. 37.9 million, while monthly collections doubled from Rs. 2.5 million to Rs. 5.5 million by mid-2025. This turnaround paved the way for the successful auction, which awarded the stand for Rs. 81.6 million per year for three years, with a mandatory 10% annual increase.
The I-11 bus stand also experienced unprecedented growth. While bids earlier this year had reached just Rs. 6.5 million, the latest auction closed at Rs. 38 million annually, reflecting strong competition and renewed interest.
A DMA spokesperson said the results highlight the success of the authority’s reforms and represent one of the most significant revenue boosts in recent years.

No facilities provided to Senior citizens in fare, bus stop seating, pick up/ drop connection not on the same point passenger has to cross on the other side difficult for seniors citizens and ladies with minor to cross. Public toilets/ bus stop shelter not been provided, basic civic for the passenger.
Congratulations. Now all such bus stands/terminals within territory of Islamabad be immediately constructed like sheds of metro cash and carry with provision of all modern facilities to both passengers and drivers.
