The Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2026 is now open for applications from exceptional students outside the United Kingdom who wish to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge.
This fully funded award provides comprehensive financial support, including tuition fees, an annual stipend of £21,000, round-trip airfare, visa costs, and health insurance.
Since its establishment, the program has enabled over 2,000 scholars from more than 100 countries to study at Cambridge. Its mission is to nurture future leaders dedicated to making a global impact.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must:
- Hold citizenship outside the UK.
Apply for one of the following programs:
- PhD (full-time or part-time)
- MLitt (full-time)
- One-year postgraduate course (full-time, with limited exceptions)
- Current Cambridge students may also apply if they are beginning a new postgraduate program.
Scholarship Coverage
The scholarship includes:
- Full University Composition Fee
- Maintenance allowance of £21,000 per year (up to four years for PhD students)
- One return economy-class ticket
- Visa costs and Immigration Health Surcharge
- Additional support may also be available, such as academic development funding, childcare assistance, fieldwork support, and hardship grants.

Applications must be submitted via the University of Cambridge Graduate Application Portal, completing both the admission and funding sections, along with the Gates Cambridge application form. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
