Punjab Govt Waives Off Semester Fees for University Students From Flood-Hit Districts

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a special relief package for students from districts severely affected by recent floods.

Under the package, semester fees for all students belonging to flood-affected areas have been waived, while admission fees for first-year BS students have also been eliminated. The measure applies to students from Muzaffargarh, Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Chiniot, and Kasur.

To provide additional relief, the government has extended the last date for registration in universities located in these districts by 20 days. Similarly, the deadline for applying to the Honhar Scholarship program has been extended by one month, ensuring more students can benefit.

Officials said the initiative is aimed at reducing the financial strain on parents while ensuring that young people from flood-hit regions do not see their education disrupted.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her government’s commitment to supporting flood victims, pledging early rehabilitation and compensation for losses. She emphasized that no child’s education should be compromised due to natural disasters and reiterated her resolve to provide full assistance to families impacted by the floods.
