Islamabad Seals Seven Illegal Sheesha Cafés in Citywide Crackdown

The Islamabad district administration launched a major crackdown late last night against illegal indoor sheesha cafés, sealing seven establishments, imposing heavy fines, and arresting six individuals.

According to the ICT administration spokesperson, indoor sheesha cafés are prohibited under Islamabad High Court orders, and any business operating such facilities will face strict legal action.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, has directed all assistant commissioners to carry out immediate action in their respective areas. He also warned that officials failing to implement these orders would be held responsible.

“No indoor sheesha café will be allowed to operate. Anyone found inside during raids — including customers — will face legal consequences,” DC Memon said.

The crackdown, officials explained, is part of efforts to strictly enforce court directives and safeguard public health. Authorities have urged citizens to report illegal sheesha activity, assuring that violators will be penalized regardless of location.

The campaign will continue across all zones of Islamabad with surprise inspections and on-the-spot legal proceedings. The administration clarified that no leniency will be shown to café owners or visitors found involved in such activities.

The drive follows clear instructions from the Islamabad High Court to clamp down on all forms of illegal sheesha use in enclosed spaces. The public has also been advised to avoid such establishments to prevent arrest or legal trouble.
