Punjab Orders Closure of Schools in Small Buildings

The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has directed the closure of all schools operating on plots smaller than ten marlas.

According to the new policy, institutions running on undersized premises must either relocate to larger buildings or expand their existing facilities to meet the minimum land requirement.

School owners have been granted a two-month deadline, ending November 10, to comply. If expansion is not feasible, schools will need to shift to a new location and immediately notify PEF authorities. The foundation will then carry out inspections to verify compliance before granting formal approval.

Officials warned that schools failing to adhere to the directives will face legal consequences.
