The Next Toyota Hilux Drops in November – Here’s Everything We Know

The Toyota Hilux, long known as a reliable pickup, is about to get a new model. Toyota is preparing to unveil the next-generation Hilux in November 2025.

Leaked images and test models suggest the Hilux is getting a significant redesign rather than a minor facelift. At the front, a taller grille and slimmer headlights create a sharper profile, with reports hinting at a full-width LED light bar for the first time.

The rear will also see changes, including reshaped taillights and squared wheel arches with black cladding, giving the pickup a more rugged appearance.

Powertrain Updates

Toyota is expected to expand the Hilux lineup beyond traditional diesel engines. The current 2.8-liter turbo-diesel with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing about 201 hp, remains central, but new options are on the horizon.

Industry reports suggest:

  • A plug-in hybrid Hilux may launch in 2026.
  • A fully electric Hilux is also under development, with production expected before the end of 2025.
  • The pickup could adopt Toyota’s 2.4-liter i-Force Max hybrid engine from the Tacoma, delivering up to 326 hp and 630 Nm of torque.

Toyota is also preparing to introduce electric power steering. This update will improve handling while allowing the integration of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

Inside the Cabin

The cabin of the next Hilux is expected to move closer to SUV standards. Traditional dials may be replaced by a digital instrument cluster, while a larger tablet-style infotainment system will provide modern connectivity features.
