A Bangladeshi expatriate has become the latest millionaire after winning the Dh20 million grand prize in Big Ticket Abu Dhabi’s September draw, held in the UAE capital on Friday.
The lucky winner, Harun Sarder Nur Nobi Sarder, a 44-year-old private taxi driver based in Sharjah, purchased the winning ticket — number 035350 — on September 14.
When the show’s hosts, Richard and Bouchra, called Harun during the live draw to deliver the news, the stunned winner could barely react, responding only with, “Ok, ok.” Harun later shared that he will split the prize with 10 friends who jointly bought the ticket.
Having lived in the UAE since 2009, Harun has spent the last 15 years working hard and regularly purchasing Big Ticket entries, hoping one day his luck would change — and it finally did.
Alongside the grand prize, four participants won Dh50,000 each, including Shihab Umair from India, Siddiq Pamblath, an Indian expat in Dubai, Ali Hussein Ali, a Bangladeshi resident of Abu Dhabi, and Adel Mohammed, a Pakistani expat living between Dubai and Sharjah.
In the “Big Win Spin the Wheel” contest, four participants took turns trying for additional prizes. Riyas, an expat from Qatar, nominated his friend Ashiq Mottam to spin the wheel on his behalf — a decision that paid off, as Ashiq won Dh150,000 for their group of 20 participants.
Susan Robert, an Indian expat from Kerala, was the only female winner of the night, securing Dh110,000. She expressed plans to invest in her son’s education and fulfill her dream of visiting Japan, encouraging other women to take part in future draws: “Buy more tickets, ladies!”
Other winners included Alimuddin Sonja from Abu Dhabi, who won Dh85,000 and plans to share it with 10 co-buyers, and Jazrulislam Fakir Ahmed, a Bangladeshi resident of Al Ain, who also intends to divide his winnings among 10 people.
Adding to the excitement, Mohammed Saiful Islam Ahamad Nabi, another Bangladeshi expat from Sharjah, won a Range Rover Velar in the same draw with ticket number 022118.
Big Ticket has revealed that the October promotion will feature an even larger Dh25 million jackpot, to be announced during the live draw on November 3.
Additionally, five weekly winners will each receive 250 grams of 24-karat gold bars, keeping the excitement alive for participants across the UAE and beyond.
