Pakistan opener Sidra Amin has been shortlisted for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for September, following a dominant run of performances in the ODI series against South Africa that reaffirmed her status as one of the most consistent batters in world cricket.
The 33-year-old was in sublime touch throughout the three-match series, finishing as the top scorer with 293 runs at a jaw-dropping average of 293. Sidra produced two back-to-back centuries, an unbeaten 121 and a follow-up 122, before sealing Pakistan’s consolation win in the final ODI with a composed half-century. Her performances stood out in what was otherwise a tough series for the hosts, helping Pakistan post competitive totals and ultimately end South Africa’s winning streak in the final match.
Sidra Amin will have to beat out India’s Smriti Mandhana and South Africa’s Tazmin Brits, who also made the shortlist for the ICC Player of the Month for September.
Smriti Mandhana earned her nomination following a stellar series against Australia, hammering 308 runs in four ODIs, including two centuries, and rewriting history with a 50-ball ton, the fastest ODI century ever by an Indian woman.
Brits, meanwhile, was the standout performer for South Africa in their series win over Pakistan, compiling 272 runs in two innings, including back-to-back unbeaten centuries of 101 and 171, earning her the Player of the Series award.
All three women are currently participating in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.
For Sidra Amin, this nomination represents not just individual recognition but also a major moment for Pakistan women’s cricket. Her ability to anchor the innings while maintaining a healthy strike rate has become a hallmark of her recent form, one that could inspire the next generation of batters in green.
