The Dubai Municipality has launched a new “City Inspector” initiative aimed at training and certifying qualified inspectors across multiple municipal sectors to strengthen regulatory oversight and enhance public service quality.
In the first phase, 63 Emirati inspectors have been certified, covering 14 specialised technical areas within municipal inspection. The initiative seeks to create an integrated inspection framework that standardises procedures, improves compliance with local laws, and elevates overall community satisfaction.
By unifying inspection practices, the programme aims to eliminate overlap, increase operational efficiency, and support Dubai’s goal of maintaining a world-class urban environment built on health, safety, and quality of life.
The municipality has also introduced the City Inspector Professional Diploma, designed to certify inspectors in key fields such as public health and safety, food control, construction supervision, waste and sanitation management, environmental sustainability, and oversight of public facilities.
Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted the importance of inspection and regulatory functions in advancing institutional planning and improving city services.
Under the new system, City Inspectors will carry out routine, complaint-driven, and visual inspections, reducing unnecessary visits and addressing public concerns more efficiently — ensuring smoother regulatory operations and stronger community protection.
