ACB Denies Reports Claiming Afghanistan’s Withdrawal from Tri-Nation Series in Pakistan

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has issued a clarification regarding its team’s status for the upcoming tri-nation T20I series set to take place in Pakistan next month. The ACB firmly dismissed social media rumours suggesting that the national team will skip the series, calling such claims “completely baseless and misleading.”

According to sources within the ACB, no decision has been made to withdraw from the series, which features Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. The board clarified that the team’s participation remains fully on track and preparations are proceeding as planned.

Social media has been active in recent days with speculation about Afghanistan’s participation in the tri-nation series in Pakistan. This follows fallout from the 2025 Asia Cup, which has reportedly created divisions within ACC. The recent cross-border tensions haven’t helped either.

The ACB expressed concern over the spread of misinformation on social media and advised supporters and media outlets to rely on official board announcements for credible updates regarding the team’s schedule and participation.

The Afghanistan cricket team is currently playing Bangladesh in a bilateral series, with Zimbabwe up next. The team will then travel to Pakistan for the tri-nation series in November with the mini-tournament serving as valuable preparation for all three teams ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup.
