A tragic incident unfolded in the capital’s rural area when a young man allegedly shot and killed a woman before taking his own life inside a restaurant in Humak Model Town, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the male was identified as a 20-year-old resident of Kahuta and the female was identified as a 25-year-old from Gujar Khan.
The restaurant owner told authorities that the pair arrived in the afternoon and sat in the family hall upstairs after placing their order.
About half an hour later, the owner heard three gunshots. When he and a waiter rushed upstairs, they found the door locked from the inside. Peering through a gap, they saw both individuals lying in a pool of blood.
Rescue 1122 was called to the scene, and a delivery boy entered the hall through a window to unlock the door. The male was found dead with a pistol nearby, while the female was critically injured. She was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her wounds on the way.
Authorities said preliminary investigation indicated that the two had arrived with another man and woman, believed to be their coworkers at a local factory. The other pair left after a heated argument broke out between the couple, shortly before the shooting occurred.
Police have registered a case of murder against the deceased suspect on the complaint of the restaurant owner. Further investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the incident.
