The metro bus service between Islamabad and Lahore was temporarily suspended on Friday following road closures at multiple locations in both cities. The decision was taken on the directions of the district administrations, citing security concerns and public safety.
According to officials, the suspension is part of precautionary measures implemented after the Punjab government imposed Section 144 across the province in response to potential threats of terrorism and law and order disturbances.
Under Section 144, all kinds of public gatherings, protests, rallies, sit-ins, and processions have been banned until October 18. The Home Department’s spokesperson said that the restrictions also extend to the display of weapons, use of loudspeakers, and distribution of inflammatory or sectarian material.
Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas and to follow official advisories. Metro bus services are expected to resume once road conditions and security situations normalize.
