Punjab Govt to Buy Military-Grade Quadcopters

The Punjab government has approved a major procurement plan to enhance law enforcement capabilities, including the purchase of modern surveillance vehicles, grenade-launching quadcopters, and mortar shells, officials confirmed.

As part of the initiative, the province will acquire 10 Command and Control Surveillance Vehicles equipped with advanced monitoring systems. These vehicles will be deployed to 10 districts identified as criminal hotspots to improve intelligence gathering and response times.

According to officials, active criminal gangs in Lahore will also be targeted using these surveillance units, which are designed to aid in the rapid identification and tracking of suspects.

The plan also includes the purchase of four Armoured Surveillance Vehicles, along with military-grade equipment such as quadcopters capable of launching grenades and mortar shells, indicating a push toward militarized policing for high-risk operations.

The estimated cost of the entire procurement is Rs. 1.68 billion, out of which Rs. 980 million will be disbursed in the first phase of the project.

Officials say the investment is aimed at boosting operational readiness and providing law enforcement with the tools needed to respond to increasingly complex security challenges across the province.
