Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has clarified that certain news reports published yesterday have created an inaccurate impression that a new wave of gas supply disruptions or a fresh force majeure situation has emerged, leading to curtailment in gas supplies. SNGPL categorically states that these reports do not reflect the current ground realities, and no change has been made to gas supplies to consumers.
It is pertinent to note that the force majeure declared by Qatar Energy in March 2026 has remained in effect and has been extended from time to time, including the latest extension communicated to SNGPL. This is a continuation of an existing situation and does not represent any new adverse development or additional curtailment in gas supplies, contrary to the impression created by the recent media reports.
SNGPL continues to manage the gas supply situation in close coordination with the National Coordination & Management Council (NCMC) and the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division). Through coordinated planning, indigenous gas supplies have been optimized, while LNG cargoes are being regularly arranged to meet the country’s energy demand across all key sectors.
Domestic consumers continue to receive gas supplies during peak cooking hours. At the same time, uninterrupted gas supply to the industrial and fertilizer sectors has been maintained to support economic activity and agricultural productivity. Special emphasis has also been placed on maximizing gas supply to the power sector to help mitigate electricity load shedding.
SNGPL remains committed to ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted gas supply across its franchise areas through prudent resource management and close coordination with all relevant stakeholders. The Company urges consumers and the media to rely on official information issued by SNGPL and other relevant authorities and to avoid drawing conclusions from inaccurate or speculative reports.
