United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres thanked Pakistan for its longstanding commitment and valuable contributions to UN peacekeeping operations, acknowledging the country’s role in supporting global peace and security during a meeting with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The two sides discussed the regional situation and a range of international issues, with particular focus on Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace in West Asia and its longstanding contributions to United Nations peacekeeping missions.
The UN Secretary-General appreciated Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at reducing regional tensions and recognized its continued support for UN-led peacekeeping operations around the world.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan had acted responsibly to promote regional peace, stability, and the protection of human lives despite multiple challenges.
He also stressed that UN peacekeeping missions require realistic mandates and adequate resources to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued engagement with the United Nations on regional stability and international peace initiatives.
