A woman reportedly shot dead her husband and four children before ending her own life, allegedly over suspicions of her husband’s extramarital affair. The shocking incident took place in Khairpur, Sindh.
Police discovered six bodies belonging to a prominent local business family inside their home on Tuesday. According to initial reports, all victims had sustained gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen.
Station House Officer (SHO) Nazir Mangi of A-Section Police Station said officers arrived at the residence of businessman Naveed Arain after neighbours reported sounds of gunfire. “When the team entered the house, all six family members were found dead in different rooms,” he confirmed.
The deceased were identified as 35-year-old Naveed Arain, his wife Aqsa (30), and their four children — Ali Sher, Ahmed Ali, Muhammad Musa, and Mubashra, aged between six and fourteen.
Police said preliminary evidence suggests that Aqsa allegedly used her husband’s licensed firearm to kill her family members before shooting herself. “The position of her body and forensic evidence collected from the scene indicate a murder-suicide,” Inspector Nazir told the media.
Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a domestic conflict, as Aqsa reportedly suspected her husband of infidelity. The family, police added, was known for operating a well-established business in Sukkur.
Authorities have sealed the residence and collected forensic samples for further investigation. Police said additional statements from relatives and neighbours are being recorded to confirm the sequence of events.
