Location Revealed for New Five-Star Hotels in Islamabad

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to immediately begin work on new five-star hotels in Islamabad to accommodate international delegates expected for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Conference 2027.

While laying the foundation stone of the 1.3-kilometer Shaheen Chowk Underpass on Friday, the prime minister emphasized that hotel development must be prioritized alongside the new Convention Centre project. He said both facilities are vital for hosting the high-profile international summit.

According to CDA officials, the government plans to construct luxury hotels on two CDA-owned plots in Sector G-5. The civic body is actively seeking investment partners to launch the project. Officials confirmed that a recent meeting was held between the CDA and the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) to explore collaboration opportunities.

Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa for their efforts to improve infrastructure across the capital. He highlighted that the addition of modern hotels and road projects would not only support international events but also enhance Islamabad’s image as a global city.

The CDA has been instructed to fast-track approvals and development work to ensure the hotels are completed well before the 2027 SCO summit.
