The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to expand its commercial partnerships with private entities, and the next step involves Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
According to sources in local media, the PCB has officially initiated the process to sell naming rights for Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, marking the first move toward giving the historic venue a fresh identity. Bids have been invited from corporate sponsors interested in acquiring the rights.
The initiative is part of the board’s broader strategy to boost commercial revenue through existing cricket infrastructure across the country.
Similar opportunities are expected to be introduced for other major venues, including Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Karachi’s National Stadium has already undergone this process, having been renamed National Bank Cricket Arena in 2022 after the PCB sold its naming rights to the National Bank of Pakistan.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, known for hosting numerous international matches and memorable Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounters, could soon carry a brand-affiliated name, following trends seen in major sports markets worldwide. The stadium has become a key venue for international fixtures, alongside Lahore, as Karachi’s stadium undergoes improvements.
While no specific timeline has been announced for the completion of the bidding process, negotiations are likely to being soon.
Rawalpindi Stadium, home to several historic Pakistan victories, may soon bear a new title. For fans, however, its legacy as one of the nation’s most passionate cricketing venues will remain unchanged.

I think this money should be spent on project which generate jobs and some role in development of country. No need to change name.
Rawalpindi Stadium should be named ” The Legend Mohsin Naqvi Stadium”. This will pay a tribute to a living legend in his lifetime for rendering historic services for elevating the cricket to such a level which no one can compete in times to come.
