Woman Appeals to CM Maryam Nawaz After Alleged Rape by Influential Man

A young woman from Rahim Yar Khan has issued a desperate plea to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, claiming she was raped by an influential man while local police continue to deny justice.

The situation escalated dramatically when the victim climbed a high water tank, threatening to end her life in protest against the authorities’ silence. Rescue teams and police officials eventually persuaded her to come down safely. Once on the ground, she shared her painful story with reporters.

Addressing the Chief Minister directly, the woman invoked Maryam Nawaz’s public stance on women’s rights. “Maryam Nawaz says she is the ‘red line’ for women, but I have been raped. For four months, I’ve been humiliated while seeking justice, yet I’ve received none. Where will I find justice?” she said.

The victim accused the District Police Officer (DPO) of deliberately blocking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused, identified as Shahbaz. She alleged that the officer was protecting the suspect instead of helping her.

“If the DPO is siding with the accused, then where will the women of Pakistan find justice? I want to commit suicide,” she said in distress.

Her mother backed her claims, stating that despite repeated visits to the police station, officers refused to lodge a case. She further alleged that the perpetrator not only raped her daughter but also recorded obscene videos of her.

The family has appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to personally intervene, ensure a fair investigation, and take strict action against those obstructing justice.
