PCB to Bring in New Kit Supplier After Low Quality Asia Cup Kits

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially taken notice of the low-quality kits worn by the national team during the 2025 Asia Cup and has begun the search for a new supplier to address the issue.

The PCB’s move to find a new apparel and equipment supplier for the national cricket team comes after a wave of complaints from players regarding the poor quality of their kits, particularly during the continental event.

The substandard quality of Pakistan’s Asia Cup kits was evident throughout the tournament, as the humidity and dry weather in Abu Dhabi and Dubai gave the fabric a “wet t-shirt” appearance, causing it to cling to players. Interestingly, the actual manufacturer of the kits has not been revealed, as the clothing carried no brand logo — an unusual omission for international sports apparel.

According to sources, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi personally took notice of the players’ concerns and instructed the relevant departments to ensure that future team apparel meets international quality standards.

The PCB has now issued a third corrigendum, extending the deadline for prequalification proposals for apparel, machinery, and equipment suppliers until November 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with bid openings scheduled the same day at 11:30 AM at the PCB headquarters in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

This move is part of the board’s broader plan to onboard new apparel companies for the Pakistan men’s, women’s, under-19, and domestic teams. Vendors will be shortlisted soon, and the selected company will enter into a three-year, series-to-series contract with the PCB.

Sources add that the PCB is committed to ensuring players’ comfort, design preferences, and performance requirements are prioritized in the new kits — an area that has drawn criticism in recent months.

The new apparel partnership will cover all national and domestic competitions from October 2025 to August 2028, marking a significant shift in how the PCB manages its official sportswear deals.

  • Thank God. Finally. As a person who does partake in sports, some people might not understand how crucial proper clothing is.

  • It is very sad and concerning that a sport that is loved by atleast 2/3 of the country which is over 100 million people for marketing cannot get any international brand to sponsor.
Pakistan team has played with some basic bat brands or nothing on the shirts apart from the Country of PEPSI that is written bigger than anything on the shirts.
Shame on many fronts to the leaders and directors who do not have a vision.
