The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 871 million. Officials provided a detailed briefing on both the technical and administrative components during the meeting.

Real-Time Monitoring of 150,000 Vehicles

The facility will feature 42 large display screens and 20 analytical panels, enabling real-time surveillance of nearly 150,000 vehicles that travel the Ring Road daily.

The system will use advanced monitoring tools, including high-resolution cameras, an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system, and traffic data analysis software.

Authorities say the technology will be used not only to manage traffic flow but also to detect and document violations such as speeding, ignoring traffic signals, improper lane use, and driving in the wrong direction.

Coordination Between Agencies

Minister Sohaib Bharath stated that the project is designed to improve road safety and ensure a smoother commute for the public. He added that the command center will allow better coordination between the Traffic Police, Punjab Safe Cities Authority, and the Ring Road Authority. This integration is expected to help in responding quickly to accidents and emergencies.

The minister also instructed concerned departments to speed up construction and meet the project deadline, aiming to transform Lahore Ring Road into one of the most efficiently managed highways in the country.
