Customs Seize Rs. 67.5 Million Worth of Marijuana

The Air Cargo Control Unit (ACCU) of the Customs Collectorate at Karachi’s airports has thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics through international mail, seizing 2.19 kg of marijuana valued at Rs. 67.5 million.

The drugs were concealed in tin cans shipped from Thailand and deceptively labeled as “Thai Red Tea.”

Customs officials said the bust highlights the growing challenge posed by the surge in global e-commerce, which has led to increased cross-border trade and new avenues for smuggling. “Thanks to constant vigilance and effective interception, Pakistan Customs continues to protect communities from the dangers of narcotics,” the officials added.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reaffirmed its commitment to strict vigilance against drug smuggling through all channels, including international mail.
