Samsung Hints at Massive Changes in Galaxy S26

Samsung has shared early details about its upcoming Galaxy S26 series, confirming a strong focus on AI features, custom-built chips, and hardware upgrades to set it apart from the previous generation. The information came alongside the company’s Q3 financial report, where top executives outlined priorities for future Galaxy devices.

According to Daniel Araujo, Vice President of Samsung’s Mobile Experience (MX) Division, the Galaxy S26 series will deliver a “user-centric, next-gen AI experience,” powered by a second-generation custom application processor (AP) and improved performance, including new camera sensors.

Although Araujo did not name the chipset, industry watchers expect it to be the Exynos 2600, which could become the first 2nm mobile chip produced by Samsung. Whether it’s labeled as first- or second-generation depends on whether Samsung counts the Exynos 2500 used in the Galaxy Z Flip7.

Reports suggest Samsung plans to use the Exynos 2600 for most Galaxy S26 units globally, while select markets, including the US, China, and Japan, may receive models powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Some Snapdragon chips, including the “for Galaxy” versions, are expected to be manufactured by Samsung Foundry, supporting the idea of dual sourcing.

However, Araujo clarified that the application processor selection process is still ongoing, and no final decision has been made regarding the full chipset lineup for next year’s flagship phones.
