The Sindh Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department has extended the deadline for replacing vehicle number plates by an additional two months. A formal notification has been issued to announce the extension.
According to the latest notification, the new deadline for obtaining the modern, security-featured number plates is now December 31, 2025.
It is worth noting that the previous deadline for the Ajrak-themed number plates expired on October 31, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department revealed that around 6.5 million motorcycles are registered across Sindh, with more than 3.3 million registered in Karachi alone.
Officials added that many residents purchase motorcycles but fail to register them under their own names, continuing to use them on open letters, which is a legal violation under motor vehicle regulations.
