Pakistanis Can Enjoy the Biggest and Brightest Supermoon for 2 Consecutive Nights

The night sky is set to put on its biggest show of 2025 as the brightest and closest Supermoon of the year, the “Beaver Moon,” rises on November 4 and 5 (Tuesday and Wednesday).

The name “Beaver Moon” comes from Native American and early colonial traditions, marking the season when trappers would set beaver traps before winter froze the wetlands.

This month’s Supermoon will appear larger and brighter because the Moon will reach its closest point to Earth in orbit, around 221,817 miles away, which is nearly 2,800 miles closer than October’s full moon.

According to NASA, the proximity makes this Supermoon stand out. While the Moon’s size doesn’t actually change, it can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than when it’s farthest from Earth.

Adding to the spectacle, the Taurid meteor showers will also be visible, sending occasional bright, slow-moving fireballs across the sky. Meteor expert Robert Lunsford noted that while November won’t bring major meteor activity, the Northern and Southern Taurids, along with the Leonids, will keep the night sky lively for stargazers.

When to Watch

The best time to view the Super Beaver Moon will be at moonrise on Tuesday evening (Nov 4), with another chance the following night.

Viewers may also notice the “Moon Illusion,” a natural effect that makes the rising Moon look unusually large near the horizon compared to surrounding trees and buildings.

Astronomy experts recommend finding a dark, open spot with a clear view of the eastern horizon and minimal artificial light for the best experience.
