Samsung gave the public its first glimpse of a tri-folding smartphone last week during the 2025 K-Tech Showcase. Although the device was placed behind a protective glass case and not officially named, it marked a significant step in the company’s foldable phone development.
While the event only offered limited images of the phone in its folded and unfolded states, a new video from SBS News and Omokgyo Electronics has provided a clearer look. The footage shows the tri-fold device from multiple angles, highlighting its unique build.
The phone uses two hinges, one on each side of the foldable display. The hinge on the left appears slightly wider than the one on the right when the phone is folded. Once opened, the device reveals a large 10-inch display. The cover screen shifts to the right panel, with the two inner sections forming the rest of the viewing area.
The unfolded device looks notably slim when viewed from the side, suggesting Samsung is focusing on maintaining a sleek profile despite the complex hinge mechanism.
Leaked visuals suggest the phone, possibly to be named the Galaxy Z TriFold, which includes an external screen on the back along with a triple-camera setup and LED flash. These components appear to be similar to those on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7.
The right edge of the device houses the power and volume buttons. The power key seems to integrate a fingerprint scanner, following the same approach used on Samsung’s Fold7.
Samsung has yet to disclose the full specifications of the tri-fold model, and details like its exact dimensions remain unknown. The company has also not announced a release timeline or confirmed whether this is a commercial-ready prototype or a concept still in development.
