Pakistan is all set to make tennis history this month as the country will officially host its first ATP Challenger Tour event—a move that Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi says will put Pakistan on the global tennis map and open doors for international talent.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Aisam confirmed that the ATP Challenger event will take place from November 24 to 30, carrying a prize purse of $50,000. The tournament is expected to attract top players from around the world, giving local fans a rare chance to witness high-level tennis action at home.
“This is a milestone moment for Pakistan,” Aisam said. “Hosting an ATP event has been a dream for years—and now it’s finally happening. It’s not just about tennis; it’s about showing the world that Pakistan is ready for global sports once again.”
He added that the PTF is fully prepared to deliver a top-tier event with world-class facilities and organization, ensuring that players and spectators enjoy a memorable experience.
Aisam also revealed that the PTF plans to host a major ITF tournament next year and launch a national tennis league, calling it a “massive step forward” for the country’s sporting ecosystem.
An ATP Challenger event is part of the Challenger Tour, widely regarded as the second-tier professional tennis circuit. Players typically ranked between 50th and 300th in the world compete in these events to earn ranking points and progress to the main ATP Tour. Pakistan hosting one of these tournaments is seen as the beginning of something promising.
With the ATP Challenger Cup coming to Pakistan, tennis fans finally have something to cheer for—and it might just be the spark that takes Pakistani tennis to the next level.
