Punjab Announces Major Increase in Traffic Fines

Punjab Chief Minister has approved a substantial increase in traffic fines across the province in an effort to curb road violations and promote safer driving habits.

Under the new policy, motorists violating traffic rules will now face significantly higher penalties. Motorcyclists will be fined Rs. 2,000 for each violation, while the maximum fine limit for various offenses has been raised to Rs. 20,000.

According to the traffic police, fines that previously ranged between Rs. 100 and Rs. 500 will now be revised upward to reflect the new schedule. Drivers of vehicles exceeding 2000cc will face a Rs. 20,000 penalty for overspeeding.

Additional penalties have also been outlined for specific offenses. Violating a traffic signal or engaging in overloading will now incur fines of up to Rs. 15,000. Similarly, wrong-way driving (one-way violations) will result in a fine reaching Rs. 15,000.

  • A great step, one way violation has become a norm in almost every city, which is a very serious act, causing accidents and loss of life.

  • In every country, Traffic fines are high to ensure safety of people. Unfortunately fines in Pakistan have always been a joke. Heavy fines and e-challans…that is the only solution to keep the public safe.
If people are crying for heavy fines, then why don’t they just stop breaking law?
Any court giving relief to these violators, must remember that every accident is on the conscious of that court..

  • Increasing fines after Sindh province heavy fines announcement and social media campaign of comparing the two provinces is again seems not a very thoughtful move by somebody sitting on Idea implementing seat.
Autocratic approach always not good rather educating masses is the key to long term success but since this is difficult for a bureaucrat or decision maker so they always go for educating masses through punishment approach which always resulted with different outcomes, that is my half century observation.

  • I hope Maryam Nawaz also gets fined when she drives her Toshakhana BMW and her Son and Brothers Permanently resident in UK pay the same when they Visit Pakistan

  • The rules for these fines are discriminatory. And themselves unlawful. Why a traffic violation for a bigger car is fined more than a smaller car for a similar offence. This is unfair and prejudice to basic human values

  • They should focus on the motorcycle, underage, driving and not falling the road laws. Going wrong way no headlights at night.

  • I have seen violation of traffic rules in lahore city a strict action must be taken against driver who brake the rule and minimum detention of vehicle six months.especially breaking signal lights and violation of one way traffic.

  • It is all fine and everything…

But why on earth is NO ONE talking about the Drivers that have broken/damaged piston exhausting thick Black Smoke all the way…

Why do they NEVER get it fixed, they destroy the environment, and pollute everyone much farther behind them…

I absolutely HATE them, and why no one is talking about them, just boggles my mind really, I really thought this revision of fines would have that issue through…

  • this is actually good, should be even more than sindh e-challans. everytime someone do obviouse violation. they will just simply say, “koi nahi yea to yaha hota hea. pakistan hea na.” this will be the end of that stupid culture
