Sindh Govt Compares Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab to Mayor New York Zohran Mamdani

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah went viral after comparing newly elected New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani with Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, declaring that “the wave of change that began in Karachi has now reached New York.”

Speaking at the Future Summit in Karachi, themed “Course Correction: Redefining the Direction,” Shah highlighted that New York’s choice of a 34-year-old Muslim mayor mirrors Karachi’s earlier decision to elect a young and reform-driven leader, Murtaza Wahab.

“The transformation that started in Karachi has now extended to New York,” the chief minister remarked, adding that both cities symbolize a new era of progressive, youth-led governance.

The Sindh CM’s official account also posted about the comparison on social media. However, the page has since deleted the post following ridicule from the public.
