China Announces Fully-Funded BS MS and PhD Scholarships for Pakistani Students

The Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) has announced 75 fully-funded scholarships for Pakistani students for the academic year 2026–27 as part of the Government of China’s initiative to strengthen educational ties with Pakistan.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan serves as the official nominating agency responsible for shortlisting eligible applicants under this program.

Programs Offered

The Chinese Government Scholarship Program supports international students in pursuing Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD degrees in various academic fields. A one-year Chinese language preparatory course is also included where required.

It is worth noting that the preparatory year is mandatory for undergraduate students unless they possess a valid HSK Level 3 certificate (valid for two years). Also, both Chinese- and English-taught programs are available for Master’s and PhD candidates.

Financial Coverage

The CSC Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support throughout the degree program:

  • Tuition Fees: Fully covered by the host university (includes education, administration, and health insurance costs).
  • Accommodation: Free university dormitory or a housing subsidy.
  • Monthly Stipend: Provided as per CSC policy (amount varies by degree level).
  • Travel Expenses: To be borne by the scholarship awardee.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a Pakistani or AJK national. Dual nationality holders are not eligible.
  • Must be in good health.
  • Applicants with incomplete degrees at the time of the deadline will not be considered.

Additional Conditions

  • Must fulfill the CSC eligibility and the admission requirements of the chosen university (academic performance, language skills, etc.).
  • Applicants cannot hold another scholarship at the same time.
  • Must submit valid USAT (for Bachelor’s) or HAT (for Master’s/PhD) test scores.
    • Minimum score: 50/100
    • Validity: HAT (2 years), USAT (1 year)
    • Valid test results include:
      • USAT scores from January 6, 2025, onward.
      • HAT scores from January 6, 2024, onward.
      • Or results from the upcoming December 7, 2025 test.

It is also worth noting that applicants applying for medical, engineering, law, architecture, or veterinary degrees must confirm accreditation with the relevant professional council (e.g., PMDC, PEC, PNC, PCATP, PBC, PVMC, etc.). For medical fields, follow the PMDC’s updated foreign admission policy (Public Notice – Sept 8, 2025).

How to Apply

Applicants must complete two online applications: one on the HEC Portal and another on the CSC Portal.

1. Apply through the HEC Portal

  • Complete your profile and select “Learning Opportunities Abroad.”
  • Submit your application online and keep a signed printed copy for your record.
  • Use a valid email and mobile number.

2. Apply through the CSC Portal

  • Program Category: Type A
  • Agency Number: 5861 (HEC/Pakistan)
  • Complete and download the application form, then sign it for your records.

Note: Both HEC and CSC applications are mandatory. Missing either will result in disqualification.

For Undergraduate Applicants

  • CSCA Test is mandatory.
  • Test Date: December 21, 2025
  • Obtain your Score Report before the application deadline.

Required Documents

Shortlisted candidates will later submit attested and translated documents as per HEC instructions:

  • Notarized educational documents, CNIC, domicile, birth certificate, and equivalence certificates (if applicable).
  • Study Plan or Research Proposal:
    • Undergraduate: Minimum 200 words
    • Master’s: Minimum 800 words
    • PhD: Minimum 800 words
  • Proof of language proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL/HSK, where applicable).
  • Valid passport copy (valid till March 1, 2027).
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form (including blood test results, valid for 6 months).
  • Police Clearance Certificate (issued within 6 months).
  • Pre-admission letter from a Chinese university (optional but preferred).
  • Two recommendation letters (for Master’s/PhD applicants).
  • NOC from employer (if employed).
  • Guardian’s documents (if under 18 years).

Deadline

Last date to apply is Monday, January 5, 2026 (4:00 PM PST). Applications must be submitted on both the HEC Portal and CSC Portal before the deadline.
